Full Circle: Winkler County Atty Tidwell Has License Suspended

scott tidwell

Things have been coming full circle in the extraordinary case of the Winkler County Texas Nurse Whistleblower Case over the past year and that circle may just have closed. The last bit of justice seems to have been served with the suspension of former Winkler County Attorney Scott Tidwell’s license to practice law in the state of Texas.

It all began in 2009 when Anne Mitchell and Vicki Galle, two nurses working at Winkler County Memorial Hospital who were responsible for Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Medical Staff privileges advised hospital administrator Stan Wiley that one of their physicians, Dr. Rolando Arafiles, had violated the standard of care, hospital policies and made some serious medical errors. Wiley refused to take any action and told the two they were prohibited from reporting Arafiles to any outside agency without his approval, in violation of state law.

Concerned over the safety of their … (Continued…)

Ohio Anesthesiologist Convicted Of Murder Seeking New Trial [VIDEO]

Mark Wangler

Former anesthesiologist and convicted murderer Mark Wangler is back in an Ohio courtroom asking for a new trial.

His attorney argued before the Third District Court of Appeals the reasons they should overturn the aggravated murder conviction for the death of Wangler’s first wife Kathy. The arguments focused on scientific evidence allowed, and not allowed, during the March 2011 trial. Attorney Christopher McDowell criticized the method scientists used to test chemicals on duct work in the home, calling it junk science. McDowell said Judge Richard Warren shouldn’t have allowed jurors to hear the testimony at all. He also objected to a defense witness not being allowed to refute the evidence. The chemical evidence was key since Wangler was convicted of killing his wife by using carbon monoxide, a deadly asphyxiate gas.

McDowell also says officers collected evidence beyond the scope allowed by a search warrant including a diary. However, assistant … (Continued…)

Felon Dr. Norberg Defense Of Propofol Use On Wife FAILS [Video]

Jon Norberg

In what can only be described as a pathetic attempt to justify what was at best gross medical negligence and unethical behavior, and at worst chemical incapacitation for the purpose of committing serial rape, Dr. Jon Norberg, 41, of Fargo N.D. went on camera Friday, days after pleading guilty to lesser charges of felony reckless endangerment and misdemeanor sexual imposition.

If the public learned anything  about propofol  from the Michael Jackson case , it is the fact that it should NEVER be administered in someone’s home under ANY circumstances, and that it is a very dangerous drug in untrained hands. The good Dr. Norberg would have us believe that  he is somehow qualified and even experienced in the administration of propofol and that a reasonable physician might inject his wife with it over and over to treat an illness. There is not an ounce of truth in this. Not an … (Continued…)

SHOCKER: Victim In Propofol Rape Case Is Wife Of Convicted Dr [VIDEO]

guilty

In a stunning development, the victim in the Fargo, N.D. ‘propofol rape’ case has stepped forward and identified herself to the public. She is none other than Alonna Norberg, the wife of the accused, now guilty, Dr. Jon Norberg who entered an Alford plea of guilt in court yesterday. For months the only description of the victim had been a ‘woman who was not a patient’ of Dr. Norberg.

After Dr. Norberg’s plea he made statements to the media which were false according to Mrs. Norberg who says she has come forward to set the public record straight. “I would have preferred that these matters remain private to shield my children, but the legal cases and news coverage make it important that I correct the public record,” she said in a statement released by her attorney. According to court documents, she has filed for a divorce. However her husband claimed … (Continued…)

Watch Harsh Words Delivered By Judge Pastor At Murray Sentencing [VIDEO]

michael_jackson-1

If you did not get the chance to watch the video of Judge Pastor sentencing Dr. Conrad Murray to 4 years in prison it is well worth 10 minutes of your time. He rakes Murray over the coals in a well deserved come-to-Jesus, dose of reality, statement. 4 years in county jail was the maximum sentence allowed under the law and you get the impression that Pastor would have preferred a longer sentence in state prison. The judge refers to Murray’s treatment of Michael Jackson as “medical experimentation”.

NY Pain Doc Arrested: 10 Patients Dead From OD [VIDEO]

Dr. Stan Li

A Queens NY pain management doctor made a practice of peddling prescriptions to addicts and drug dealers, including a man who killed four people in a pharmacy robbery and at least 10 of his patients have died of drug overdoses according to authorities.

Dr. Stan Li wrote more than 17,000 prescriptions – mainly for oxycodone and other highly addictive painkillers – in the last 2 1/2 years at his Queens weekend clinic where he would see up to 120 patients per day. One patient had overdosed numerous times yet Li continued to prescribe him narcotics until ultimately he had a fatal overdose.

Li’s lawyer, Aaron M. Wallenstein, says the doctor denies everything, has acted “responsibly” and “wants to fight this to the end.” Li, 57, is being held on $500,000 bail after pleading not guilty to prescription sale and reckless endangerment charges. Currently the charges all relate to one patient, … (Continued…)

Nurse Charged With Murder In Fatal Nursing Home Fire [VIDEO]

Dean On Oxygen At The Fire

Registered nurse Roger Dean, 35, has been charged with murder and arson in connection with the deaths of four people during a fire at Quakers Hill Nursing Home in Sydney, Australia where he worked. He had been seen on television news reports telling  journalists that he had helped evacuate patients as the fire was raging inside. Three more victims have also died and more charges are expected. 30 victims remain hospitalized with 12 of them in critical condition.

No motive has been given for his burning down his place of employment, but just a few hours before the fire Sydney police were at his residence investigating a complaint against him filed by co-workers at another nursing home where he worked previously. Officers did not finish their interview with him before another emergency called them away. Dean had been working at the Quakers Hill for about two months after resigning from … (Continued…)

Anesthesiologist As Expert Witness: Murray Trial Lessons How Not To [VIDEO]

Health_Law

Expert witness testimony in both criminal and civil litigation is necessary both to explain highly technical or specialized evidence presented to a jury, and to establish the Standard of Care (SOC) by which a defendants actions are judged. In the case of the SOC, expert witness testimony alone establishes its content. However it is the jury that accepts, or rejects, the testimony and settles on the appropriate SOC. One can then easily imagine that an expert’s testimony often determines the guilt, innocence, and/or liability of a defendant. It is very important stuff which requires accuracy and an unbiased presentation.

To that end, most all professional societies have established guidelines for the qualification and testimony of experts within their profession.  These guidelines tend to have common requirements: The expert must be qualified as the profession defines it, and; The expert should be neutral and unbiased in their testimony as to the … (Continued…)

AZ Cosmetic Surgeon Sentenced to 25 Years On 3 Homicide Counts [VIDEO]

Normann crimeinterrupted.com

As we previously reported, Dr. Peter Normann, a self proclaimed cosmetic surgeon without formal training in surgery, was found guilty of 2 counts of second-degree murder and one count of manslaughter in the deaths of three of his surgical patients back in July. In September Normann was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and he didn’t go quietly.

“Your honor, I would just like to express my deepest sorrow to the families of Ralph Gonzales, Alicia Santizo and Leslie Ray,” said Normann

“It’s my belief that the public at large is not truly aware of the risks of cosmetic surgery,” he went on to say, continuing his assertion that his patients died as a result of known risks inherent to the procedures they had.

Normann then lashed out at the paramedic that reported him and testified at his trial:

“I’m particularly angry at Mr. Duarte for lying on the … (Continued…)
