Fargo Physician Charged In Propofol Rape

jail

Fargo surgeon  Jon David Norberg, 41,  made his first appearance in Cass County District Court on Wednesday after charges of gross sexual imposition and felony reckless endangerment were filed against him last week. The charges stem from an allegation that he raped a woman after rendering her unconscious by injecting her with the anesthetic propofol. Bail was set at $50,000 cash bond which was apparently immediately paid since he was not booked into jail.

As part of his bail agreement Norberg, an orthopedic surgeon who would have no medical reason to be administering propofol to his patients, has agreed to stop prescribing while the state medical board investigates. He has also surrendered his passport and is forbidden from coming within 300 yards of the alleged victim.

His accuser is not a patient of his and she alleges the incident took place at his home and that it has happened on multiple occasions over a period of 18 months. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 8.
