The trial of Winkler County Sheriff Robert Roberts began today. Roberts faces 4 felony counts and 2 misdemeanors and potential prison terms of 4-10 years for each felony and 1-2 years for each misdemeanor. The trial was moved to nearby Midland due to concerns of jury influence locally.
After an almost five hour selection process on Monday, the jury was chosen, sworn in by visiting Judge Robert Moore of Howard County. The Texas Attorney General’s Office is trying the case , specifically David Glicker assisted by Shane Attaway. Roberts’ defense team consists of Woody Levertt and Jason Leach. The trial is expected to last into next week and Winkler County nurses Anne Mitchell and Vicki Galle are expected to testify.
