As we previously discussed, anesthesia awareness, or awareness during surgery, is rare. Complete awareness where the patient can feel pain and is basically wide awake but paralyzed is even more rare. But when it happens it is a horrifying experience with lasting psychological implications. This 2005 award winning short horror film called “Anesthesia” brings home the significance of such events. Without being a spoiler, the outcome in the film does not seem to be the norm, though how would we know for certain?
